Working Groups

D-ARCH Pathways+ aims to understand and better facilitate access to academia by exposing the “hidden knowledge” of the university system and demystifying the transition from student to roles as scientific staff, particularly within the design studios and research teams.

Each semester, we design a half-day Jour Fixe with and for mid-level faculty, focusing on a didactic theme specifically relevant to our architectural teaching practice.

Hosted by the Institute for the History and Theory of Architecture (gta) at ETH Zurich, Lines of Enquiry is a new lecture series that provides a platform for postdoctoral researchers to share their current work. Focusing on original and critical approaches to architecture and its histories, the series invites scholars to present emerging architectural research and experimental methodologies. Lines of Enquiry aims to open up space for dialogue and exchange with colleagues and students of the Department of Architecture at ETH Zurich.

This initiative, jointly organised by the AAA and D-ARCH, aims to develop a cohesive strategy and clear processes for welcoming and integrating new members across all roles within the Mittelbau – including new Studio Assistants, Doctoral Students, Scientific Staff, Postdocs, and others.

The AAA working group for parents is concerned with improving the living and working conditions of parents working and studying within the D-ARCH at the ETH. By better understanding the challenges faced by parents within D-ARCH, this working group aims to address equal opportunities in the workplace, fair access to housing and childcare, as well as conditions in the workplace that affect the livelihood of parents.
