Abstract

Each semester, we design a half-day Jour Fixe with and for mid-level faculty, focusing on a didactic theme specifically relevant to our architectural teaching practice.

These events follow a three-part structure:

 

  • In short presentations, mid-level faculty members engaged in studios, core courses, seminar weeks, electives, disciplinary semesters, master’s theses, and other formats share practical examples from their teaching. Through workshops, participants are introduced to didactic concepts and learn how to apply them in their own teaching. Informal gatherings—such as collective brunches, lunches, or dinners—provide opportunities for exchange among participants.

 

Through this Jour Fixe, we strengthen the learning network among professorships and disciplines within the mid-level faculty, consolidate didactic approaches, reflect on the strengths and weaknesses of our own teaching practices, and generate impulses for further pedagogical development.
